Please fill out this form for which day and time is best for you.. I am not asking for a date, this will reoccur every two weeks, not just this one date. You can pick more than ONE, so pick ALL the times you’re available, cos the way we’ll determine it is by when the most people are available! I am trying to make it as early in the evening as possible.

Spring’12 Scheduling!
VERY IMPORTANT!The new semester is slowly approaching! For the first two weeks of the semester when we return need to be scheduled. What I would like you all to do is fill in your preferences sections on whentowork.com with your red cannots as class times and obligations, as well as your green/prefers and pink/dislikes for the first two weeks.I understand that your schedules are not yet final, because you may drop or pick up a class. If you are picking up a class and are going to get special permission, still fill in that time as red cannot because obviously you will not be able to work. If you pick up a class during this period however were already scheduled to work, just email me and for that time I will take you off the schedule even if it is already published.Please submit these temp schedules and preferences by the evening of Thursday, January 12, as the schedules will be created and published on Friday, January 13th. You are also free to trade and pick up shifts as you please. Everyone’s preferences are right now set to cannot work ALL times, and you must edit this by the 12th, if you do not, you will not receive any hours for these two weeks and that is your own consequence.After the add/drop period is over, I will send out a *reminder* and each individual student staff member will return on whentowork and fill in their final schedule with final red cannots, green/prefers and pink/dislikes.
The official last day to add a class is the 25th. So your final whentowork preferences including red cannots, green/prefers and pink/dislikes must all be completed and submitted no later than the morning of Thursday the 26th.
When you put in a reoccurring instance in whentowork as a red cannots, you MUST submit a reason on the form https://megr.wufoo.com/forms/lsc-nonacademic-time-off-request-form-spring-2012/. Instructions are at the top of this website page. If you do not submit one of these forms yet fill in time off on the weekends without a valid obligation/reason, you are subject to being scheduled if there is no one available.——————————Comparing this and Last Semester:- last semester (FA11), we utlized the “autofill” function and the system created the schedules, and I reviewed and revised those schedules so that everyone would get around the same amount of hours, which was about 7-14 hours a week. if it was more or less it was due to availability. my decision as area manager was to prioritize that everyone get a similar amount of hours over prioritizing your likes versus dislikes.

When2Work Tips!
Few tips about the way when2work functions:- last semester (FA11), we utlized the “autofill” function and the system created the schedules, and I reviewed and revised those schedules so that everyone would get around the same amount of hours, which was about 7-14 hours a week. if it was more or less it was due to availability. my decision as area manager was to prioritize that everyone get a similar amount of hours over prioritizing your likes versus dislikes.

- the more pink/dislike times you put in, the less likely you are to get shifts
- if you fill in more time as pink/dislike and only few spaces as green/prefer, that does not mean you will be first choice for the green/prefer time you chose,
- if you leave a space white and no preference, someone with that time as green/prefer will be assigned to it before you and you will most likely receive less shifts
- if you put in a small amount of green/prefers, the system does not give you priority to those times, it evaluates everyone who chooses green/prefer for that time equally. putting something as green does not guarantee that you will work that time and it does not guarantee you a lot of hours for that week
- if you like to work, the more green, the better
- if you do not like to work, few green is fine
- pink/dislike does work against you. if you put all nights or all mornings as pink/dislike you will most likely never receive those times in this new semester.

OA/INFO Mandatory Meeting Tuesday, December 13th at 9:30pm in LSC!
This is mandatory! If you absolutely cannot make it you must email Michelle at micper@eden.rutgers.edu or michtrace@gmail.com with the times you would like to work, and the dates and times of your exams, and your last day on campus AND the reason as to why you cannot come. Studying does not count as an excuse! Please submit your excuse and availabilities BY the time of the meeting. If you do not have it you will receive a warning and it reflects on your evaluation!

FINAL MEETING OF THE SEMESTER
This meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 13th, 9:30pm at LSC. Please bring your finals schedule. . It is mandatory! If you cannot make it you must submit to me your finals schedule and a valid excuse IN EMAIL, not text message or facetoface! If you do tell me facetoface I will still ask you to write me an email. The shifts these days will be longer hours, you will not be scheduled on days you have exams, times you would like to study as long as they are reasonable. We need to have the desk staffed during the finals period because students are constantly using the building to study themselves. Studying at work policy will still apply—no textbooks or homework, just study cards and notes to review.

BIG CHILL
The Big Chill is RU REC’s annual charity race. Saturday, December 10 at 7am at the College Ave Gym. They collect unwrapped, new toys as a registration fee and there is a 5k run/walk! If you would like to participate, please register at

Note that if you violate any of our staff policies, you will be held accountable for it! Example: coming in late without notice, not showing up for a shift, invalid dress code, visitors at work, etc. Discipline begins with a verbal warning, to written warnings, meetings, probation, and potentially termination.
Be smart and responsible for all your actions!

We will be scheduled up to Tuesday December 13th, anything after that we will discuss at our Dec 13th meeting!
Our next Staff Meetings Will Be:
- Tuesday, November 29 - 9:30pm at LSC
- Tuesday, December 13 - 9:30pm at LSC - this is the last day of classes! BRING YOUR FINALS SCHEDUELS to this meeting because we will be scheduling for reading days and finals.
I will send reminders out for these days as well at least 3 days in advance!
